About

A place to call home

The Mews is a bright, modern home designed to feel calm, familiar, and comfortable – but it’s the way people are cared for here that truly makes it feel like home.

This is more than just a care home – it’s a vibrant, connected community, with new investments and improvements planned to keep building on the high-quality environment we’ve created.

Beautiful spaces
with a homely feel

Designed to support both independence and comfort, The Mews blends homely touches with clever design features that make life easier for people living with dementia:

  • Spacious en-suite bedrooms, welcoming lounges, quiet nooks, and a peaceful garden create a relaxed environment where people can settle in and feel at ease.

  • Purposeful features like the immersive "Hope Street" corridor and the "Musical Walk Through Time" corridor help support memory, recognition, and conversation.

Peaceful nights, thoughtfully supported

Innovative sensor technology helps us keep the people we support safe while minimising disruption to sleep, with discreet digital checks that respect privacy and comfort.

A purpose-built relaxation space with gentle sensory aids supports evening routines and helps people wind down in a way that feels familiar and soothing. The result is peaceful rest, with quiet reassurance that support is always there if needed.

Active days, shaped by choice

Activities are thoughtfully planned around residents’ interests, abilities, and daily rhythms – not a one-size-fits-all timetable.

  • Daily activity options are displayed on large screens, giving people real choice and independence

  • Activities are adapted so everyone can take part in a way that feels comfortable

  • Shared experiences – from music and movement to crafts, baking, and conversation – help build confidence and connection

Personalised care that goes further

No two people are the same, and neither should the support they receive. That’s why we work closely with each individual to create a care plan that reflects who they are and what truly matters to them. We offer:

  • Residential care for older adults with a range of physical or cognitive support needs

  • Specialist dementia care, including support for complex needs

  • Short-term respite care for recovery or temporary support

Care is always shaped around the person – not the condition.

Delicious, nutritious foods that bring people together

Mealtimes at The Mews are a chance to enjoy familiar flavours, make choices, and spend time together. Menus are thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and displayed digitally to help encourage appetite and support independence.

Choices are offered at every meal, with comforting favourites alongside varied options that cater to individual preferences and dietary needs.

Person-centred care plans

We work closely with each person to understand what matters most to them. Care plans are personalised to support independence, comfort, and wellbeing, rather than just addressing medical needs.

Our approach to dementia care

At The Mews, every person is supported as an individual, with care shaped around their needs, routines, and preferences.

Collaboration with families

We know that families are an essential part of care. Our team keeps loved ones involved, ensuring everyone feels informed, supported, and connected.

Specialist dementia support

Our experienced team is trained to support a range of dementia needs, including more complex conditions. We focus on creating a calm, reassuring environment that encourages engagement, memory, and connection.

Flexible care options

Whether you’re looking for long-term care or short-term respite, we provide tailored support to suit each situation. Our goal is always the same: helping people living with dementia feel safe, valued, and at home.

We Change Lives is a charity - our focus is always on people, not profit. Which means every penny we receive is reinvested into delivering the highest possible standard of care.

And as a not-for-profit, we’re able to keep our fees carefully and fairly set – well below the average cost of other residential care homes – while still offering an exceptional level of support, facilities, and day to day care.

So, you’re not paying for inflated prices or shareholder profit. You’re investing in a safe, supportive, and fulfilling environment, where people genuinely come first and where what’s included goes far beyond the basics.

An accessible service you can truly rely on
