A Visit to Remember: The Farm Comes to The Mews

Two fluffy lambs with black faces are being led on red leashes across a wooden floor indoors, creating a cozy and calm atmosphere.

We had the loveliest afternoon at The Mews when Mobile Farm Cheshire came to visit and brought some very special company with them.

Three-week-old black nose lambs (complete with nappies – safety first!), fluffy silkie chicks, and some very charming guinea pigs made themselves right at home. 🐤🐹🐑

Visits like this are a lovely example of animal therapy in action, and the benefits are really easy to see. People were relaxed, chatty, and genuinely happy in a way that is really lovely to see. There is something about being close to animals that feels grounding and comforting, especially for the people we support.

Moments like this matter more than people might realise.

Animal-assisted activities have a well-documented impact on wellbeing – they can reduce anxiety, lift mood, and spark memories that might otherwise stay just out of reach.

But beyond the research, it's simpler than that.

It's the look on someone's face when a lamb nuzzles into their hand. It's the laughter when a chick does something unexpected. It's residents chatting to each other about pets they once had, farms they once visited, lives fully lived.

A huge thank you to Mobile Farm Cheshire for coming along and being so wonderful with everyone. We hope to see you again soon. 🐑🩷
