Elderly & Dementia Residential Care

At We Change Lives, we believe everyone deserves to feel at home.

That’s why we offer warm, personalised residential care for older adults and people living with dementia here in Penketh, Warrington – whether someone’s looking for a permanent place to call home or a short-term respite stay.

We know moving into residential care is a big decision, so we do everything we can to make the experience a positive one. From the very beginning, we focus on comfort, familiarity, and helping each person feel welcomed, understood, and supported.

No two people are alike – and the way we support reflects that. Every support plan is shaped around the individual, their routines, preferences, and the moments that matter most. Whether it’s how they take their tea or what music makes them smile, the small things help life feel just right.

Because after all, home isn’t just a place – it’s a feeling.

An affordable service you can truly rely on.

We Change Lives is a charity organisation, meaning all income is put back into delivering the highest quality service possible. Being a not-for-profit also means we’re able to keep the cost to you as low as it can possibly be – well below the average cost of other residential care homes.

So, whether you’re self-funded or council-funded, you can access exceptional care without the worry of inflated prices. Our focus is always on people, not profit – making sure every penny goes towards creating a safe, supportive, and fulfilling environment for those who live with us.

What is Elderly & Dementia Residential Care?

Our Elderly and Dementia Residential Care supports:

  • Older adults (aged 65 and over)

  • People living with dementia, including those with more advanced needs like Elderly Mentally Infirm (EMI) who need 24-hour support

This kind of care is about so much more than day-to-day routines. It’s about creating a space where people feel safe, supported, and connected so that they can live life in a way that feels good to them.

A home that feels like home.

At We Change Lives, we take the time to get to know the people we support.
What brings them joy. What soothes them. What’s made them who they are.

You’ll see that approach in everything we do – from the moments shared to the memories made.

Music, arts and entertainment are a big part of life here, thanks to our fantastic Activity Partners and Support Workers who bring energy and creativity into our homes every week.

We love opening our doors to local schools, therapy pets, musicians and performers, helping people stay connected with the community around them. In the garden, you’ll find the Forget Me Not Tea Room – a peaceful, cosy summer house where families can sit together, share stories, and enjoy time with their loved ones. Built from one of our pandemic visitation pods, it’s now a gentle tribute to those we lost – and a space filled with warmth, memory and love. Inside, familiar touches help things feel more homely – like our ‘Hope Street’ corridor features front doors and personal details, or the musical ‘Walk Through Time’ corridor, which sparks memories and invites conversations.

Across both our homes, we:

  • Create calm, friendly spaces where people feel safe and comfortable

  • Encourage people to make their space their own, with personal items, decor choices and familiar comforts

  • Support meaningful activity – from gardening and crafts, to music and movement

  • Celebrate each person’s story, interests, and identity

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all care. We start by listening – learning what matters most and finding ways to help each person live life in a way that feels like them.

Because good care is about more than support. It’s about belonging.
