Every day, thousands of people quietly do extraordinary things, from caring for a loved one, helping with meals, offering comfort, managing appointments, and keeping life running.
Many don’t even see themselves as carers. But they are. And every act of care, no matter how small, matters and deserves to be noticed.
📌 In the UK, about 12,000 people become unpaid carers every single day.
Carers Rights Day is a chance to pause and say: we see you, we value you, and there is support. You don’t have to do it all alone.

Know Your Rights
According to Carers UK, the theme for Carers Rights Day 2025 is “Know your rights, use your rights.” It’s not about rules or bureaucracy – it’s about helping you feel confident to ask for what you need, whether that’s at work, at home, or when using health and social care.
Support can come in lots of small, practical ways. You might be able to adjust your work schedule, speak with your GP to be recognised as a carer, or ask for a Carer’s Assessment to explore the help available to you.
Even the little things, like making sure you’re consulted when a loved one leaves hospital or having access to a free flu jab, can make a meaningful difference. Taking steps like these can give you breathing space and reassurance – a reminder that you don’t have to do it all alone.
We're Here for Carers
At We Change Lives, we see all the little ways people care... the patience, the quiet acts of love, and the strength it takes to keep going day after day. Caring can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be exhausting, lonely, or overwhelming. Some days it feels like there’s no time for you, and it’s easy to forget that your wellbeing matters too.
That’s why we’re here – to walk alongside you, to listen, and to offer a bit of support when you need it most. Whether it’s helping you make sense of your options, pointing you towards practical help, or just being someone to chat with, we want every carer to feel seen, valued, and reminded that you’re never on your own.
A Gentle Reminder for Carers
💛 If you are a carer: take a moment for yourself today. Ask for help when you need it, and remember that your wellbeing matters just as much as the care you give.
🗨️ If you know someone who cares for a loved one, even a small gesture – a kind message, a phone call, or listening ear – can mean the world.
