This is the story of Emma Norman's career, which took her to heights she never expected when she joined the We Change Lives team.
Emma has progressed tremendously during her time at We Change Lives, to her current role as Service Manager at Heathside and The Mews. Emma joined the WCL team five and a half years ago as a Support Worker at Ryfield’s Village. Ryfield's is part of our Community Services, where we support older adults who have a learning disability, physical disability, associated mental health needs and/or dementia to live as self-sufficiently as possible.
In this role, Emma provided professional, high-quality support to people in a way that maximised their choice and independence; allowing them to have a high quality of life and make their own decisions. She was passionate about delivering person-centred support and supporting people to be active members within their living environment and their local community.
Because of this, Emma quickly developed and soon became a key member of the team. Her skills, values, determination and positive attitude are what led to her quickly being promoted into a Team Leader role. But Emma's professional development didn’t stop there. Emma kept climbing and persevering, and her efforts and fantastic way with people didn't go unnoticed. Five short years since she joined the business, she is now our Service Manager at Heathside and The Mews - our care homes that support elderly people and people with dementia. And to top it all off, Emma is currently completing her NVQ Level 5, too! We spoke to Emma about what she loved about working at WCL, and she told us:
"Seeing the smiles on the residents' faces, and knowing the difference we’re making to their lives, that's what I love most about my job.” Emma is a shining example of the career scope here at Warrington Community Living. Her development shows that with determination and the right core values, anything is possible when you work with us. We asked Emma what advice she would give to somebody thinking about starting a career with We Change Lives, and she said:
“If you want a job where every single day is different and you can really make a difference, then definitely hit apply.”
